2 injured after shooting outside Brockton courthouse

BROCKTON, Mass. –Police in Brockton were investigating a shooting that happened around midday on Monday outside the district court on Main Street, WCVB Channel 5 reports.

Brockton police said a female victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and a male victim’s condition was being assessed.

Police said two people were taken into custody in connection to the shooting and a gun was recovered.

Video from the scene showed crime tape blocking part of the sidewalk, with investigators taking photos at the scene amid torrential rainfall.

Police said a stay-in-place was put into effect for those who work or live in the immediate area after the incident. The stay-in-place included City Hall, Brockton Public School Central building, the Board of Health building, and the War Memorial.

Police said the stay-in-place was done out of an abundance of caution and has since been lifted.

“This incident appears to be an isolated event, and we are diligently working to gather more information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting,” police told WCVB.
