2 men arrested for attempted break-in in Cranston

CRANSTON, R.I. – The Cranston Police Department announced the arrest of two men who were caught trying to break into a home on Wednesday.

According to police, officers responded to Tweed Street around 12:22 p.m., after a witness reported seeing one man trying to pry a window open with what appeared to be a screwdriver.

Upon arrival, one of the suspects identified as 33-year-old Romer Pena-Perez, of Providence, fled on foot, prompting officers to chase after him.

Pena-Perez continued running to a waiting get-a-way vehicle being driven by the second suspect, identified as 27-year-old Orlando Pena-Baez, of Providence. 

Perez jumped in, and Baez sped off.

Authorities pursued the vehicle into the town of Johnston, and were able to stop the vehicle on Plainfield Street, where both suspects were arrested.
