Police in New Bedford arrested two men for stealing tires off of a car.

Around 2:00 Wednesday morning, a neighbor called 911 alerting them to the suspects he witnessed stealing tires from a car near Grape and Oak Streets.

Police found the car with two wheels missing and resting on milk crates.

Shortly after, officers stopped a vehicle matching the description given by the witness and saw the two stolen tires in the back seat.

The tires were returned to the owner, and police arrested 19-year-old Kelvin Trinidad and 18-year-old Brett Silva, both of New Bedford.

The men were charged with larceny exceeding $250 and malicious destruction of a motor vehicle.
