2 men arrested in deadly shooting outside Fall River bar

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said Monday that two men have been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting outside a bar in Fall River over the weekend.

Shortly after midnight Sunday, Fall River police responded to the Riverside Sports Bar and Restaurant on Rodman Street.

Upon arrival, officers found a man, identified as 45-year-old Jose Roberto Zelaya, on the ground outside the bar. He was later pronounced dead at Saint Anne’s Hospital.

Jose Pagan, 23, and Luis Colon, 42, both of Fall River, were arrested.

Pagan has been charged with accessory after the fact to an assault and battery by discharge of a firearm.

Colon was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

ABC 6 News spoke with Donna Esposito who said she heard the gunshot and described the aftermath of the shooting.

“The shooting happened in the back of the restaurant, there was a man lying on the ground and a cop back there too, There were a bunch of people but they were all leaving the parking lot,” said Esposito, who lives next door to the restaurant,

Both men are scheduled to be arraigned in Fall River District Court on Tuesday.

No further information was released.
