2 men arrested in major Woonsocket drug bust

WOONSOCKET, RI.. (WLNE) — Two men were arrested in a major drug bust in Woonsocket Thursday, according to authorities.
Woonsocket police said Friday that a search warrant was executed at two locations: Mason Street and South Main Street.
Chief Thomas Oates said Carlixto Munoz Fernandes and Juan Boch Munoz Canela were arrested after they seized about 7 kilos of suspected fentanyl in wax paper bundles and 600 grams of suspected fentanyl powder.
Oates said police also seized roughly 10,000 pills that may have contained fentanyl.
“It is believed that this total seizure is approximately 12 kilos of fentanyl,” said the chief.
In addition to the drugs, Oates said a kilo press, pill press, other materials used to manufacture illegal drugs, and two semi-automatic guns were confiscated.
At the Mason Street home, police said a marijuana grow was also found in two separate rooms. A total of 87 “mature marijuana plants” were seized.
Oates said Fernandes, 29, and Canela, 44, were arrested during a traffic stop after leaving the Mason Street home.
Both suspects were each charged with numerous drug charges, including manufacturing and selling fentanyl. They were also charged with carrying dangerous weapons and substance committing crime of violence (two counts).
