2 elderly men killed in early morning fire in Cranston

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island State Fire Marshal said Friday two elderly men were killed in a fire early Friday morning.

The fire happened at about 3 a.m. on Whitewood Drive.

The names of the victims were not immediately released.

Neighbors say they were woken up by the fire.

“When I looked out the window the house was on fire,” said one neighbor who wished to remain anonymous. “That’s really about it, and we just saw a lot of people trying to help with the fire.”

Neighbors also said the two victims kept to themselves.

An ABC 6 News crew at the scene saw significant damage to the home as firefighters chased hot spots for hours.

This story is developing and will be updated once more information becomes available.
