Two people were injured when the car they were in plummeted nearly 40 feet to the ground. It happened around 11:30 Sunday night on Ferry Street in Fall River.

Firefighters say the car failed to make the turn from Ponta Delgarda Blvd. onto Ferry St. and crashed through the guardrail. The vehicle ended up on the railroad tracks below.

The driver and his female passenger were taken to Rhode Island hospital. Both are expected to survive.
