2 Providence police officers suspended amid use of force investigation

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Two Providence police officers have been suspended with pay amid an investigation into the use of force during an incident earlier in July.

Providence police tell ABC6 the incident happened on July 9. Three teenagers were driving in a car, allegedly pointing and shooting BB guns at people, including a police officer.

This led to a brief chase that ended with the teenagers crashing into a fire hydrant. The three teens were arrested.

An investigation is now underway involving the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office, Providence Police, and State Police into their use of force during the arrest.
