2 shots fired incidents in Providence Friday night, bullet hits fire station

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Providence police are investigating after two shots fired incidents late Friday night.

The first report of shots fired happened around 9:30 p.m. Providence officers responded to Cypress Street at Billy Taylor Park.

Commander Thomas Verdi told ABC6 officers found “numerous” shell casings on the footbridge connecting Billy Taylor Park and Abbott Street.

Shortly after, police were notified of shots fired into the Providence fire station on North Main Street.

A front door and window sustained damage and bullet fragments were found inside of the station, according to Commander Verdi.

No one was injured in either of the incidents.

No arrests have been made. Providence police are actively investigating.
