BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) – Two workers were hit and killed at a construction site in Boston’s Financial District on Wednesday.

The incident happened just after 8 a.m. on High Street.

Police said two men were working on the construction site when they were hit by a truck.

The two men were knocked into a hole, and became trapped underneath the truck.

“Once we made the scene safe, we lowered a Boston firefighter and a Boston EMS paramedic into the hole to asses the patients. At the point it was determined that it was going to shift from a rescue to a recovery mode,” said Boston Fire Commissioner John Dempsey.

The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are working to interview witnesses, and review any video that may have captured the incident.
