20 Year old man in a coma after being hit with a brick
This is how Russell Hicks likes to remember his son Brian: an outgoing, athletic and musical 20-year old.
But after Brian was hit in the head with a brick last weekend in Woonsocket, things are different.
“He's struggling for his life, its really difficult,” says Hicks.
Brian, his twin brother, and some friends were walking to Taco Bell at the Walnut Hill shopping plaza when he was attacked.
“Some guy in a truck went by and threw a brick and it hit Brian in the head.”
He suffered severe damage to his skull and brain and is in a coma.
Doctors had to remove half of his skull to relieve the pressure on his brain.
Tough for his father, Russell, to think about.
“The pain he must be going through its just totally unnecessary, you know its like the kid was walking around chopping wood back there the other day and now he's struggling for his life.”
Russell Hicks wants answers about why his son was targeted in such a vicious way.
He wants to know if it has anything to do with an altercation his son was in hours earlier.
And more than anything he wants to know who did this to his son.
“You don't just go throwing bricks at people, he may as well have had a gun.” said Russell Hicks.
Woonsocket police are investigating but aren't saying much about what happened.
