2021 Election Results: Mayors of Fall River and Attleboro Win Re-Election, Three RI Local Questions Pass

Providence, RI (WLNE) – People across Rhode Island and parts of Massachusetts headed to the polls on Tuesday.

Here is an overview of the outcomes of some of the key races:

In the special election for RI State Senate District 3, Democrat Samuel Zurier easily won with about 90% of the vote.

In Portsmouth, two local questions passed. The first question asked voters for approval to borrow up to $21.4 million for school construction and improvements. That question easily passed. The second question asked for approval to transfer the old Anne Hutchinson School property for the purpose of developing a senior center and elderly affordable housing. That question passed as well, but the vote count was much closer than with question one.

In the Democratic primary for Pawtucket City Council District 6 (special election), Marlena Martins Stachowiak appears to be the candidate headed for the general election on December 7.

In Central Falls, a local question easily passed. The question asked for approval to issue up to $5.76 million in bonds for school improvements and construction.  Also in Central Falls, Kevin Kazarian won the special election for City Council District 3. Kazarian ran unopposed.

In Fall River, incumbent Mayor Paul Coogan easily won re-election.

In Attleboro, incumbent Mayor Paul Heroux also won re-election.

In Boston, Michelle Wu claimed victory and Annissa Essaibi George conceded.
