20k vaccine appointments to open Friday; More zip codes added to eligibility list
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) announced Thursday that thousands of vaccine appointments will be opened on Friday, and shared that more zip codes will soon become eligible for a vaccine.
On Friday at 5 p.m., 20,000 vaccine appointments will be added for state-run and regional vaccination sites on the state’s portal.
Currently, only those aged 50 and older are eligible, and anyone aged 16 and older with an underlying health condition. On Monday, April 12, those aged 40 and older will become eligible, and those aged 16 and up will be eligible by April 19.
In March, residents of the hardest-hit zip codes in the state became eligible for a vaccine, and now RIDOH has added more zip codes to that list.
On Monday, residents aged 16 and older living in 02893, 02906, 02910, 02920, 02911, 02914, and 02919 will become eligible for a vaccine.
