PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- The Providence Police Department said that 22 police officers are at risk of termination as the city’s vaccine mandate for municipal workers goes into place on Tuesday.

All city workers in Providence were required to have both doses of their COVID-19 vaccination by Monday, according to the city’s mandate.

The officers will have until the end of the day on Tuesday to submit updated forms to the department’s human resources team.

The team will review the data and follow up with those who did not submit forms through the end of the week.

Mayor Jorge Elorza first announced the citywide vaccine mandate for municipal workers back in December.
