3 dogs dead, 2 displaced after house fire in East Bridgewater
EAST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WLNE) — The East Bridgewater Fire Department said three dogs are dead and two people are displaced after a house fire early Tuesday morning.
According to officials, a passerby called 911 reporting a fire at a house on Whitman Street at approximately 12:56 a.m.
When fire crews arrived, they said they were met with heavy fire on an attached garage that spread into the home.
Firefighters said they searched for any people in the home but had to evacuate the home as the flames spread to the roof, causing a partial roof collapse.
Fire officials said the heavy flames were knocked down by 1:30 a.m. and no injuries were reported to firefighters.
The home was later deemed a total loss, with an estimated value of $450,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the East Bridgewater Fire Department and State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit.
No further information was immediately released.
