NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WLNE) — Did you feel the earth move?

Well it did, not once, not twice, but three times this weekend.

Three earthquakes were registered by the United States Geological Survey on the coast of Rhode Island.

The first was on Saturday morning at 4:42 a.m., a 2.2 magnitude earthquake approximately 10 miles Southeast of Narragansett.

The second was on Saturday night at 10:15 p.m., a 2.5 magnitude earthquake approximately 10 miles Southeast of Narragansett.

The third was on Sunday morning at 2:40 a.m., a 2.2 magnitude earthquake approximately 10 miles Southeast of Narragansett.

Earthquakes are rare for this area, but in January of 2019, a 1.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Exeter.

No damage was reported with any of the earthquakes listed above, but in November 2020, a stronger earthquake registering 3.6 shook the Dartmouth, MA area and minor damaged was observed.
