3 people arrested in connection to multiple shootings
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office said Thursday three people were arrested and charged in connection to multiple shootings in the greater Providence area.
Attorney General Peter Neronha said Daniel Barbosa, 27, Miguel Paulino, 27, and Andre Pedigo, 22, were all arraigned on June 16 in District Court. All three are being held without bail.
Neronha said an investigation conducted by the attorney’s general’s Violent Crime Task Force looked into several shootings in the city involving local gang members.
Investigators said they were able to identify the suspects in late May through video surveillance and by also matching bullet casings linked to three other shootings that happened in Providence and Central Falls.
Neronha said that on June 15, investigators searched several locations in Central Falls and Providence where they arrested the three people. They were also able to find multiple guns, bullets, and drugs during these searches.
The attorney general said that investigators were able to find a Dodge Ram that was connected to a shooting in Warwick back in May.
The car was found on Beacon Street in Central Falls. When officers tried to stop Barbosa from pulling out of the driveway, he tried to drive away but ended up hitting an officer in the process. Police were able to arrest Barbosa after a struggle.
Paulino was arrested on Tremont Street in Central Falls. Investigators were able to find multiple automatic weapons, handguns, and illegal drugs.
Pedigo was arrested at his home on Summer Street. Police found drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and several cell phones.
On Rhodes Street in Providence, police seized a box containing receipts of purchasing semi-automatic handguns and ammunition.
