District Attorney Sam Sutter announced today that the three individuals arrested and charged in connection with Friday's homicide of 17-year-old Tigan Hollingsworth have been arraigned in Taunton District Court.
Etnid Lopez, 17, of 7 Paull St. in Taunton and Irving Cruz, 24, of 54 Trout St. in Brockton, both charged with murder, were held without bail and are scheduled to be back in court on July 29th for a probable cause hearing.
Mr. Lopez and Mr. Cruz are alleged to have fatally stabbed Tigan Hollingsworth last Friday night after an altercation at Grampy's Convenience store in Taunton.
Jean Carlos Lopez, 19, of 7 Paull St. in Taunton is charged under the witness intimidation statute for misleading investigators and was held on $10,000 cash bail. He is scheduled to be back in court on July 20th for a pre-trial conference. Investigators allege that Mr. Lopez was with Etnid Lopez and Irving Cruz shortly before and after the murder, but that when questioned, Mr. Lopez lied to police about what transpired during that time.
The arraignments were handled by Assistant District Attorney Garrett Fregault who is coordinating this investigation along with Assistant District Attorney Jack Stapleton.
District Attorney Sam Sutter said, “This is another senseless killing involving youth violence, but I am gratified that the Taunton Police and the State Police and prosecutors from my office worked so hard and so effectively during the first 48 hours of this investigation so that charges have been brought against those we believe are responsible for this killing.”
District Attorney Sutter continued, “I also would point out to anyone thinking about lying to, or misleading one of our investigators in a homicide or shooting case, that we charged Mr. Lopez with this offense and that he is held at this time on $10,000 cash bail.”
