The Federal Hill bar that temporarily lost its license after several violent incidents last week will learn its fate today. The $3 dollar bar is scheduled to go before the licensing board Wednesday afternoon.

The newly opened bar had its license suspended Sunday evening following two violent incidents that occurred near by. Last week a Glocester man was beaten to death with a 2 x 4 piece of wood in the parking lot behind the business. Then this past weekend a 25 person brawl spilled out into the street.

The business community says the violence is putting their livelihood in jeopardy and the hills reputation on the line.

The bars owner has not spoken publicly about the incidents or the loss of license, but did post a comment on his Facebook page saying in part, “I’m a good law abiding citizen who employees [sic] a lot of people…”

The upset business owners plan on marching from the Hill to the license hearing to show their support for its permanent closure.
