3,500 Turkeys Donated Across Rhode Island in 8th Annual “Turkey Run”

East Providence, RI (WLNE) – Thousands of donated turkeys are headed to the tables of Rhode Island families after a ‘Turkey Run’ was held on Friday.

The event began around 8am at East Commerce Solutions (ECS) in East Providence. ECS and several partners loaded up 3,500 turkeys and food baskets to distribute in time for Thanksgiving. Dozens of officers from East Providence Police, Pawtucket Police and Providence Police were also at the event to help carry the items and provide an escort.

The turkeys were then delivered to non-profit organizations, like the Boys & Girls Club of Providence, the Salvation Army, Amos House, Family Services RI, Greater Providence YMCA and the East Providence Senior Center.

This was the 8th year for the event. According to East Commerce Solutions, the event is considered the largest single-day private food distribution for area families. The ‘Turkey Run’ is led by East Commerce Solutions CEO Ed Medeiros and his wife, Lisa, who is the company president.
