3rd Cranston home invasion suspect still on the run

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — A third suspect believed to be involved in an attempted home invasion in Cranston is still on the run.

On Friday, Cranston police responded just after 2 p.m. to the reported home invasion in progress on Fernbrook Court.

Police said three Black men wearing all black and masks attempted to break into the home.

A review of surveillance footage showed that one of the suspects was armed with a handgun, according to police.

Police were given a description of the suspects’ car with Massachusetts plates. Shortly after, officers spotted the car and tried pulling them over.

Col. Michael Winquist said the suspects led police on a brief chase to Florida Avenue, and then ran on foot toward the Pocasset River.

Two of the suspects were taken into custody later that night, according to Winquist.

He said the first suspect in custody is a 19-year-old man from Providence with previous firearm charges.

The colonel also said the second man was captured at about 8:30 p.m. on Florida Avenue and was identified as Daevon Silva.

Rhode Island State Police shared this booking photo of Daevon Silva.

Silva was one of several people who was charged in connection to the brawl on the Block Island Ferry over the summer.

Winquist said a drone, K-9 units, and a boat from the fire department were used in the search.
