New Bedford man charged with manslaughter in deadly Fall River shooting

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday a third man has been arrested in connected to a Fall River homicide over the weekend.

District Attorney Thomas Quinn said Anthony Miranda, 36, of New Bedford, was arrested Tuesday afternoon and is charged with manslaughter, assault and battery by discharge of a firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, carrying an illegal firearm and carrying a loaded illegal firearm.

Miranda, who’s from New Bedford, is set to face a Fall River District Court judge Wednesday.

Sunday, Fall River police responded to the Riverside Sports Bar and Restaurant on Rodman Street just before 2 a.m. for a report of an altercation and shooting outside the establishment.

When officers arrived, they found Jose Roberto Zelaya, 45, on the ground. He was rushed to Saint Anne’s Hospital, where he later died.

That night, Luis Colon-Delgado, 42, and Jose Pagan, 23, were arrested, police said.

Pagan was charged with accessory after the fact to an assault and battery by discharge of a firearm.

Colon-Delgado was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Tuesday, both men plead not guilty in court. At this time, neither of them are charged with homicide.

Colon-Delgado and Pagan are due back in court next month.
