45 lbs of marijuana, 49 plants seized in drug bust

Rhode Island State Police arrested three individuals for drug distribution charges on Thursday.

The High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force executed four court authorized search and arrest warrants in residences located in Warwick and Narragansett.

The searches resulted in the seizure of about 45 pounds of marijuana, 49 marijuana plants, 2.5 pounds of hash oil, 23 vials of steroids, and $29,298.

Brett Mistofsky, 38, of Narragansett, was believed to be the leader of the organization. He was arrested and charged with multiple drug charges, including the delivery, possession, and manufacturing of drugs with the intent to deliver.

Tonya Gail Bess, 38, of Narragansett, and Thomas Mellor, 43, of Narragansett, were both arrested and charged on similar drug charges.

The three subjects were arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and held without bail, and were to be formally arraigned today at the Kent County Courthouse.
