BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE)- Gov. Charlie Baker announced a plan on Tuesday to distribute COVID-19 relief payments to 500,000 low-income workers in Massachusetts in March.

The $500 payments will be the first round of funds being distributed as part of the $460 million Essential Employee Premium Pay Program.

“This program will support those workers who served our communities, especially early in the pandemic,” said Gov. Baker.

Residents will be eligible for the program if their income from employment was at least $12,750 and their total income put them below 300% of the federal poverty level.
