575 Pawtucket families get Thanksgiving turkey baskets

Hundreds of people in need in Pawtucket will get a hot meal this Thanksgiving, thanks to some generous donors in the community.

575 families received a free turkey basket on Tuesday at the city’s Visitor Center on Main Street.

The baskets included a turkey and all the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal.

Mayor Donald Grebien’s wife Laureen, who helped hand out the meals, says, “They also include rice and spaghetti and veggies and cake mix and frosting and a loaf of bread and potato chips… a farmer donated 2,000 pounds of fresh potatoes to us.”

Warwick-based “Make A Difference Foundation” also donated 100 turkeys to the cause.
