New Bedford apartment fire displaces 7 people

NEW BEDFORD, MASS (WLNE) – An apartment fire on Dewolf Street in New Bedford Saturday afternoon displaced six adults and one child.

District Fire Chief Michael Danurand said crews were met with fire pouring out from the porch of the second-floor apartment.

He said it took crews approximately 20 minutes to knock down the fire.

No one was injured.

The American Red Cross is assisting the families displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
