8 arrested after allegedly vandalizing rail carts in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WLNE)- Eight juveniles were arrested after allegedly vandalizing rail carts in Middletown last week, the police department said.

Police said that the carts were broken into and vandalized on December 13, on the Old Colony Newport Railway. The railway had been victim to a similar incident back in May.

Investigators were able to identify the suspects after going through surveillance footage.

Eight total juveniles were charged between both incidents, six for last week’s, five for May’s, three were charged in connection to both.

All eight are Portsmouth residents, according to police.

The juvenile’s range in age from twelve years old to sixteen years old, and face charges of Breaking and Entering and Vandalism.

The suspects have been referred to Family Court as a result of the charges.
