84-year-old man found dead following Easton house fire
EASTON, M.A. (WLNE) — An 84-year-old man was found dead inside his Easton home following a fire on Dean Street.
Firefighters said they responded to 42 Dean Street around 8 a.m. Wednesday for a report of smoke coming from the back of a single-family home.
When responders arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming out of the basement and first floor of the home.
According to officials, their efforts to put out the fire were impeded by an excessive amount clutter inside.
The body of the homeowner, 84-year-old David Berman was found inside the home.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fire officials are currently investigating while the Medical Examiner’s office determines the cause of death.
They say no one else was inside the home at the time of the fire.
