UPDATE: Elderly victim in Fairhaven pedestrian crash dies

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (WLNE) – The elderly man who was struck by a pick-up truck in Fairhaven has died.

The crash occurred around 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Route 6 and Francis Street. According to police, the pick-up truck struck a man as he was crossing the street.

The victim, identified as 84-year-old David Schaffer was rushed by ambulance to Fairhaven High School, where he was then airlifted to Rhode Island Hospital.

The Bristol County DA’s Office said Wednesday that the victim had succumbed to his injuries and died Monday at Rhode Island Hospital.

The driver of the pick-up stayed at the crash site and cooperated with Police.
