9 Run 9th Blows Open PawSox Win In Toledo

PawSox Blow Out Toledo with 9 in the 9th

The Pawtucket Red Sox pulled out another victory on Monday in Toledo, topping the Mud Hens, 12-2. Pitching was once again the key for the road-weary PawSox. Starter Kyle Weiland improved to 4-4, working 7 innings, allowing 1 run, striking out 4. Weiland has 49 strikeouts in 47 innings of work. Tommy Hottovy gave up a home run to Omir Santos in the eighth, then struck out two of the next three hitters he faced.

Lars Anderson knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth and 2 more with a double in the ninth. Che-Hsuan Lin went 4-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Josh Reddick got his team-leading 28th RBI. Matt Sheely hammered a ground rule double and Ronald Bermudez had a double and triple for the Sox. Tony Thomas chipped in with a two run double, as well, as the PawSox broke the game open with 9 runs in the ninth inning. Every Pawtucket starter had at least one hit.

The win guarantees the PawSox (23-21) at least a .500 road trip after splitting 4 games in Columbus and winning 2 of the first three in Toledo. The series and road trip wraps up on Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. Andrew Miller (1-2, 2.80) and Andrew Oliver (4-3, 3.26) are the scheduled starters.
