PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Attorney General Peter Neronha said that a Providence man was found guilty of a double murder that occurred in 2021.

32-year-old Kelvin Maldonado was charged with two counts of murder, three counts of discharging a firearm while committing a crime of violence, and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Maldonado was accused of murdering both Abdoulaye Diallo and Abass Mbaye on June 21, 2021 near Cheshire Street and Salina Street.

Witnesses told police that the group of men attended a party in the area where they were kicked out after not paying a cover fee, and then got into a physical altercation.

Neronha said Maldonado was identified using video surveillance footage, witness testimony, and cell phone location data.

He was charged for the offenses nearly two years later, in June 2023.
