A film starring Rhode Islanders, filmed entirely in Rhode Island, meet “Mr. Birthday”

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Hollywood is hitting Rhode Island!
The cast and crew hit the red carpet Thursday night for the premier of “Mr. Birthday” a film made by Rhode Islanders and filmed completely in Rhode Island.
As an eighth grader in Cranston, Chad Verdi Junior worked as a production assistant for his father, Chad Verdi Sr.’s, films. On Thursday, Chad Jr. walked the red carper for his very first film.
Mr. Birthday stars Jason London, who plays a maintenance man at an expensive hotel. After his daughter struggles with moving to a new place, making friends, and getting people to show up for her own birthday party, London’s character is introduced to the International Birthday Network. IBN is an agency that helps children suffering from bad birthdays.
The feel-good comedy was filmed in places such as West Warwick, Providence, and East Greenwich.
“It was cool to film in my home state because I go there all the time, I have all those memories, you know its nice,”15-year-old Charlotte Ciano told ABC6. Ciano is from North Kingstown, and plays London’s daughter in the film.
Tom DeNucci, a Cranston native and film producer tells ABC6 at the red carpet event, “This is a big Rhode Island film. We shot a lot of really cool locations recognizable places like downtown Providence.”
‘Mr. Birthday’ stars Hollywood actors like Jason London and Award-winning actor Eric Roberts.
Roberts spoke highly of the film saying, “It was probably the best filming experience of my career.”
“If I could do every movie with them I would” London shared with ABC6. “In Los Angeles, this would be a bunch of fake stuff. Down here, the hugs are real.”
This feel-good movie will be released on December 17.
