PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Seven people were displaced after a fire blazed through a residential property on Friday.

The fire started in the lower level of the West Clifford Street building, said District Assistant Fire Chief Brian Mahoney.

Officials said the building is being shut down due to fire damage.

The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the seven people who were displaced.

One elderly woman, who did not live in the building, was brought to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
