UPDATE: Police Confirm 1 dead after a multi-vehicle crash in North Kingstown

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I (WLNE) – North Kingstown Police are currently investigating a deadly accident that occurred on Route 403 on Tuesday. 

North Kingstown Police were sent to route 403 in the area of the Post Road overpass at 3:39 pm for a reported vehicle crash. 

According to the department, an investigation determined that a 40-year-old female was driving a Black Honda Element in the breakdown, and passed a 48-year-old male who was driving a tractor-trailer. 

At the same time, a red GMC Canyon had been stopped in the breakdown lane and was occupied by a 63-year-old male. 

While in the breakdown lane, the female driving the Honda Element, struck the stationary GMC Canyon. 

The crash caused the 40-year-old female to move into the lane of travel of the tractor-trailer, resulting in a second collision. 

Police say all three drivers were sent to the hospital. 

The driver of the Honda Element and Tractor-Trailer were treated and released. 

The 63-year-old occupant of the pronounced deceased by North Kingstown Police. 

The identity of the 63-year-old victim has not been released at this time.  

Police are asked anybody who was on route 403 at the time of the accident and witnessed the Honda Element or the GMC in the breakdown lane to contact the department.
