A-Rod Still Out With Injury
NEW YORK (AP) – Alex Rodriguez is out of the New York Yankees'
lineup again, still sidelined by a sore groin for the opener of a
World Series rematch against Philadelphia.
Rodriguez sat out a three-game sweep of Houston last weekend
with what the Yankees have called tendinitis in his right hip
flexor. The slugger explained again Tuesday, however, that the
soreness he feels is deep in the groin area.
Ramiro Pena replaced Rodriguez at third base and batted ninth.
Robinson Cano moved up to the cleanup spot in the lineup.
In other news, the Yankees have placed long reliever Sergio
Mitre on the 15-day disabled list and recalled left-hander Boone
Logan from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
New York manager Joe Girardi says Mitre tweaked a muscle on his
side during batting practice Sunday.
