PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The average price of gasoline in Rhode Island went up 9 cents from last week.

AAA Northeast said Tuesday the average is up to $3.51 per gallon. That’s 2 cents higher than a month ago and 6 cents lower than the national average.

“The rise in demand for oil and gasoline is helping to push pump prices higher for now,” said Diana Gugliotta, director of public affairs for AAA Northeast.

This week’s average gas price is $1.20 lower than this time last year.
