PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — AAA Northeast said Tuesday that gas prices in Rhode Island dropped an average of 14 cents over the last week.

Last week’s average price was $3.94, while this week’s is $3.80.

Tuesday’s gas prices are 52 cents lower than they were a month ago, and 73 cents higher than they were at this time last year.

Gas in the Ocean State is 3 cents more expensive than the national average.

“We still have another month of peak hurricane season, and these storms can affect gas prices by disrupting oil production and refining,” said Lloyd Albert, Senior Vice President of Government and Public Affairs for AAA Northeast.
