AAA predicts nearly 50 million people will travel for 4th of July

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — AAA Northeast is predicting that nearly 50 million people will be traveling for Fourth of July this year.

“The volume of travelers we expect to see over Independence Day is a definite sign that summer travel is kicking into high gear,” said Lloyd Albert, Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Northeast.

AAA said that between June 30 and July 4, 42 million of those people will be driving, while 3.55 million will be flying, and the rest are expected to take a bus, train, or cruise.

The amount of drivers on the roads during that stretch is expected to break previous records, despite gas prices continuously rising over the past few months.
