ACI put on lock down as a result of a hazmat situation

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) – The ACI was locked down on Tuesday after a Correctional Officer found an unidentified white powder.

The officer found this powder in an envelope at the Intake Service Center.

First responders and Cranston Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials unit then arrived at the scene to assess the situation.

The facility was then put on lock down, where visitors and non-essential personnel were evacuated.

No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
