African Art Fest

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Get ready for five days of African-influenced fun!

The fourth annual African Film and Art Festival made its way into Providence with a musical opening at Brown University’s Watson Institute Wednesday.

The celebration honors African heritage through film, music, dance, and local pan-African food, as well as question and answer sessions with creators.

Organizer Chance Boas said the festival enriches the community’s culture by showcasing “unique and creative contributions from local refugees.”

Admission to the screenings scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday is free and open to the public.
