‘Al Fresco on the Hill’ returning to PVD for a 2nd year
This outdoor dining experience is set to begin May 14th and last through the beginning of October.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The good news we all needed! ‘Al Fresco on the Hill’ will return to Providence for a 2nd year in a row!
Beginning May 14, a portion of Atwells Ave will close on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. to motor traffic and be replaced with dining tables- so restaurants can expand their capacity in a COVID safe way.
Officials saying Friday, Al Fresco dining will be offered through the beginning of October, for nearly 20 weeks.
The European-style dining experience was first launched in 2020 to support struggling restaurants when capacity restrictions were tighter.
Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza announcing Friday he’s even hoping this becomes a yearly tradition.
“We’re going to even supercharge it this year, to make the experience even greater,” Elorza says.
Rick Simone, with the Federal Hill Commerce Association, says as of now there are almost 25 restauraunts planning on participating- but they anticipate that number to go even higher.
