WARWICK, R.I. – Four people remain in the hospital with serious injuries after a head-on crash in Warwick, and police say alcohol was a factor in the collision.

One of the drivers, Jeanette Lawrence, 48, of Warwick, is suspected of causing a serious crash while allegedly
under the influence of alcohol around 11 p.m. Friday. She is now listed in 'good' condition.

Rhode Island Hospital says the driver of the other vechicle, Jessica Harris, 29, of Warwick, is now listed in 'fair' condition. One of her passengers, Julie Gelfuso, 53, of Warwick is undergoing surgery Sunday. The other passenger, an 11 year-old juvenile, is still listed in critical condition.

Police say the crash was so bad that the drivers and passengers of both vehicles were trapped inside and had to be extricated from their vehicles. Three women, including the driver, were taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries. A juvenile girl was also seriously injured and taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital for treatment.

When she recovers, Lawrence will face charges of driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test, and police say more charges could be added as their investigation continues.
