PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Dunkin’ Donuts Center could be getting a name change.

Lincoln-based company Amica Insurance is making a play of taking over the naming rights of the facility.

“We’re in active discussions with the Rhode Island Convention Center Authority about securing the naming rights to the Convention Center and Civic Center,” an Amica spokesman said in a statement.

He said nothing has been finalized, but that the company is excited about the potential opportunity.

Dunkin’s contract with the Convention Center Authority was set to expire in June.

The authority put out a request for proposal in April.

Executive director Daniel McConaghy told ABC 6 News in June nothing will be formalized until September.

A request for comment from representatives of the Convention Center Authority and the Dunk were not returned.
