Animal Cruelty Charges Against “Ichabod’s” Former Owner Are Dropped

RISPCA Director EJ Finocchio is furious after a woman accused of neglecting a dog who capture the hearts of Rhode Islanders receives only a fifty-dollar fine.
The woman is accused of starving and neglecting the lab-terrier named Ichabod, who eventually was taken from her Providence home. Ichabod had tried eating anything he could get his paws on, including bits of plastic and a bra, but after some rehab at the RISPCA in Riverside he has gained weight and has been adopted by another Rhode Island family.
A judge today dismissed the animal cruelty charges brought against Ichabod's original owner and ordered her to make a $50 donation to the RISPCA.
