Armed robbery arrest in Attleboro
ATTLEBORO, M.A. (WLNE) – Around 12:30 am Saturday morning Attleboro Police Department responded to a 911 call for an armed robbery at the Cumberland Farms at 290 County St.
Upon arrival, police met with the store clerk who was able to provide a detailed description of the suspect.
The suspect was reported to be carrying a firearm, which was used to threaten the clerk with before fleeing the store with an undetermined amount of cash.
The clerk was frightened, but not injured.
Massachusetts State Police also responded with a K-9 unit to assist in the search for the fled supsect.
At approximately 1:15 am, the suspect was located when attempting to exit a wooded area near Attleboro High School where the suspect was then taken into custody.
It was learned that the suspect was, 20-year-old Jose Oliva of Attleboro.
Oliva lost the firearm when in the woods trying to evade police. The firearm was later discovered and determined to be a pellet gun.
Jose Oliva is being charged with armed robbery and is being held without release at the Attleboro Police Department, until being arraigned on Monday.
