Arrest made in Middletown hit-and-run that left 19-year-old injured

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — Middletown police said Wednesday they arrested a man in connection to a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a 19-year-old.

The crash happened at about 10 a.m. Monday on Renfrew Avenue.

Police said they found a parked car on Marshall Lane with damage consistent with having hit a pedestrian, including a dented hood and broken windshield.

Capt. Michael Faria said Frederick Williams, 42, admitted to being the driver of the car when he hit the 19-year-old.

The 42-year-old was charged with duty to stop-accident resulting in serious bodily injury which is a felony.

Williams is expected to face a Newport District Court judge on Thursday.
