Arrest warrant canceled for Johnston shooting suspect

Mark Ashe

JOHNSTON, RI (WLNE) – Police have canceled the felony arrest warrant for 25-year-old Mark Ashe who was accused of shooting a man in the leg on July 24 in Johnston.

On July 24, police say the man who was shot in the leg indicated to crews on scene that it was Ashe that shot him in the leg.

On Monday afternoon police went back to “formally interview” the victim but police say he wouldn’t provide any new information.

He also recanted his original indication that Ashe was the shooter, according to police.

“Based on his inconsistencies and unwillingness to pursue a complaint, the warrant was cancelled,” Johnston police say.

Police say no further information can be provided about this case.
