Arrest warrant issued for man involved in deadly state park shooting

PLYMOUTH, Mass (WLNE) — District Attorney Timothy Cruz said that an arrest warrant has been issued for a man involved in a deadly shooting that occurred at Myles Standish State Forest Wednesday.

John Geovanni Pires Monteiromacedo is wanted in connection in the shooting death of New Bedford resident Robert Aponte-Flores.

Cruz said that 20-year-old Monteiromacedo is alleged to have shot Aponte-Flores after an altercation in the picnic area.

Multiple witnesses told police they saw the altercation but not the subsequent shooting.

Police responded to the park and found 25-year-old Aponte-Flores suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess-Plymouth Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
