Aspiring “rappers” charged in instigating Providence riot

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – Two Warwick men were charged with instigating a riot at the Providence Place mall on June 2nd, the Providence Journal reports.

Both 21-year-old Joshua Martinson and 23-year-old William Palazzo, known for their affiliation with the “rap group” Waraq, were charged with disorderly conduct on June 9th.

A video circulating the internet shows Palazzo and Martinson “loudly instructing and encouraging protestors to commit violent and lawless acts”, said Providence Police Major David Lapatin.

Palazzo pleaded no contest, and Martinson pleaded not guilty, the Providence Journal reported.

According to Lapatin, investigators are continuing to work to identify those involved in the riot and looting.

Providence police previously arrested 21-year-old Sarah Taylor, also from Warwick, for jumping on a police cruiser just before it burst into flames the night of the riot.
