Attleboro man does 11 hours and 11 minutes worth of pull-ups for Veterans Day
ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE)-An Attleboro man is doing pull-ups for 11 hours and 11 minutes on Veterans Day to raise money for charity.
John Brunelli, 53, is a former Navy Corpsman and Mansfield Firefighter-Paramedic. His hours long workout paid tribute to the end of World War I, the war that ended on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
“I started just after midnight. I did the math myself and it brings me all the way to 11:11 a.m. and whatever I do for total pull-ups is what I do,” Brunelli said. “I have such respect for people who have served overseas and in combat and obviously the people who have made the ultimate sacrifice.”
The pull-ups are not only a way to honor Veterans, but they’re also a way to raise money for them. All donations went towards “Homes For Our Troops” in Taunton, a foundation that builds homes for wounded veterans.
“This charity, Home For Our Troops, really touched my heart because they get a house especially adapted for them, free of charge, and I thought, what a great way to kind of promote it, especially on Veterans Day,” Brunelli said.
Brunelli completed his 11 hour and 11 minute workout with 1,446 pull-ups and raised $3,000, nearly triple his goal of $1,111.
